Ram Island Yacht Club in Noank Connecticut is looking for passionate, qualified sailing Instructors for its Summer Junior Sailing Program!
Are you passionate about being on the water and inspiring the next generation of sailors? We are looking for energetic, skilled, and safety-conscious Sailing Instructors to join our team for the upcoming summer season.
Our program balances the thrill of racing with the pure fun of being on the water. Whether our sailors are mastering their first tack in an Opti or fine-tuning spinnaker work on a 420, your goal will be to foster a lifelong love for the sport.
Key Responsibilities
· Instruction: Conduct daily lessons for youth sailors ranging from beginners to advanced racers.
· Fleet Management: Provide on-water coaching for Optimist (Opti) and Club 420 fleets.
· Curriculum Development: Blend technical with "fun-first" activities.
· Safety First: Maintain a high standard of safety on and off the water, including weather monitoring and equipment inspections.
· Mentorship: Act as a positive role model, encouraging sportsmanship, and teamwork.
What We’re Looking For
· Sailing Proficiency: Strong experience handling in Optis and 420s.
· Certifications: US Sailing Level 1 (or equivalent), current CPR/First Aid, and NASBLA-approved Boating Safety certificate.
· Energy: A high energy personality who can keep kids engaged even on "no-wind" days.
· Communication: Ability to provide constructive feedback to sailors and clear updates to parents.
